Number of Tennis Balls Recycled
Issue:
After playing with a batch of tennis balls, the balls go flat and become unusable. Players then proceed to throw out these balls. 125 million tennis balls end in America's landfills every year. Contributing nearly 20,000 tons of non-decomposable waste per year. Tennis balls take 400 years to decompose in landfills.
Solution:
Tennis players can change this by giving their used balls to Ryan Trachuk. Ryan collects used tennis balls and send them to local dog shelters, school, and Recycle Balls, a specialized tennis ball recycling facility. By recycling and reusing tennis balls, we can make tennis a greener sport.
About Ryan Trachuk
Ryan Trachuk is a dedicated tennis player. Ryan has been playing tennis all his life, and currently plays on the Calabasas High School boys tennis team. From personal experience, he know how players go through baskets of tennis balls every year and end up throwing hundreds of used tennis balls into the trash bin every year. Here's where Ryan comes in to help. Ryan collects tennis balls around his local community from tennis facilities, coaches, and players, and brings them dog shelters, elementary schools, or ships them to specialized recycling center for tennis balls. This prevents tennis balls from ending up in landfills and makes our planet greener.
